Wimbledon: After winning 37 consecutive matches, Iga Svitek, Djokovic and Nadal lost in the fourth round

London, 3 JulyOn Saturday, there was a big upset at Wimbledon. The world’s number 1 female tennis player Iga Swiatek has been eliminated from the third round of the tournament. Poland’s Iga was defeated by France’s Alize Cornet 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets.

The match played between Iga and Cornet lasted for one hour and 33 minutes. In both sets, Cornet did not give Iga a chance to dominate himself even once. With the defeat, Iga Svitek’s 37-match winning streak was also broken.

After the memorable win in the match, 32-year-old Elise Cornet said- “It is a matter of great pride for me to win this match against Iga. I mean, what they have achieved this year is really big and I believe It is not happening that I am the one who has actually broken their winning streak. It is amazing.

Recall that last month, world number 1 player Inga Svitek won the French Open title. In the final of the tournament, Iga defeated Coco Gauff of America 6-1, 6-3.

Nadal and Djokovic reach the fourth round

Rafael Nadal, who won a record 22 Grand Slams and former No. 1 tennis player Novak Djokovic, have also made it to the fourth round of Wimbledon. Serbian tennis star Djokovic defeated his own country’s Miomir Kekmanovich 6-0, 6-3, 6-4. Djokovic will now face Tim Van of the Netherlands. At the same time, Nadal defeated Lorenzo Senego of Italy 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. Spain’s Nadal will now take on Bottic.
