New Delhi, August 08. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien took a dig at outgoing Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu during his farewell speech in Rajya Sabha. He said that during his tenure in the Upper House, he had to work hard to get an answer to a question.

M Venkaiah Naidu has quit as Vice President. Now the new President Jagdeep Dhankhar will replace him. Dhankhar will take oath as the Vice President on August 11. A farewell speech for outgoing Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu was held in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. In which many big leaders participated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the works of M Venkaiah Naidu. PM Modi said that he never considered work as a burden. After the Farewell Speech, there will be another farewell ceremony for Shri Naidu at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the evening.

In outgoing Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu’s farewell speech, TMC MP O’Brien lashed out at him. He said, ‘The day the Upper House introduced those three agriculture bills, he was not on the chair. Brian went on to say ‘Maybe, someday you will answer that in your autobiography.’ The TMC MP did not stop here as he reminded Naidu of his “emotional speech” on fuel prices when the BJP was in opposition.

TMC MP O’Brien told Naidu that on September 2, 2013, you gave a passionate speech on petrol and diesel in the House. Maybe one day you will tell us in your autobiography. In addition, O’Brien said that Mr. Naidu had intervened regarding phone-tapping in 2013 as well, but that Pegasus was not discussed in the Upper House during his tenure as Speaker. He said, ‘On March 1, 2013, you interfered in the House over phone tapping for 5-6 minutes. We had tried Pegasus over the years, but we didn’t get the buzz’.
